I have 190,000 miles on my daily Driver Honda. Just paid 2200 for a new transmission. Anyways I keep the oil changed pretty much every 3K, No more than 4K, It just depends since I live in an Apartment changing oil has to be done at my parents house or gulp, Jiffy Lube. I have been adding Lucas Oil to the motor at every oil change to help recondition the seals. Is it essentially Snake Oil? What oil additives do you suggest to really help the motor? Now it IS a Honda, so I could probably go pour sand in it and it would run, but....at this point with an impending mortgage and marriage in two months, I cant afford a new car.

Why do you change the oil every 3-4k miles when Honda recommends every 7k?

Because its a 99, and i bought it used, and never read anything about taking it 7k between oil changes.

Oil change every 3K miles is a myth perpetuated by Jiffy Boob. Read your owners manual and change oil as suggested by the vehicle manufacturer.
