86 CJ7 with a Chevy 350. No gas getting to fuel pump from the tank. Pulled the line from the tank to pump, no gas in the line. Is there a filter in the tank that could be clogged?
Jeep has sat for awhile, affraid the gas may have formed gel.
Other fuel filter is after the pump, so it is not that. Could it be a bad fuel pump?
Thanks
Joe

Stock CJ's had a filter on the pickup inside the tank. They can get clogged and can deteriorate over time.
To see if it is the pump just bypass the tank for a temporary test. Carefully run a line from the pump to a gas can and see if the pump works.

I wish I would have tried that last night. Already pulled the pump, what a pain to get too.
The filter, not sure where to get a new one. Looked in 4WD Hardware, is the fuel filter in the sending unit? If I dropped the ground for the sending unit, could that be the problem? I was under the Jeep last night and it appears the ground to the sending unit was broke. However, I turned the key and the gauge moved
Thanks

This is the filter in the stock CJ tank. It just slides on to the pickup tube.

It was the fuel pump. Of course, got it started and running, brake line broke....I hate this Jeep!
