I bought a chasis and will be using a few components off of my TJ. I am thinking of trying to sell my TJ missing the axles suspension, wheels-tires and steering you get the modded psc pump. Would someone pay $3000 for what I have left over(running jeep built 4.0, t-18 flipped dana 300 twinstick, alum fuel cell)? I am leaving the poly performance suspension brackets on so all someone needs to do is throw one tons under it. What do you guys think? The cage is a mix of 1.75 .120 dom and hrew.

It's not for sale yet, just trying to get some opinions on a reasonable deal for someone to get into a nice trail rig.

I was just thinking instead of parting it out, leave it together to give someone a great start on a capable rig.

what's in the dana 300?

New bearings, other than that it just has the down east offroad flip kit with atlas shifters.

Here's what I bought from Kurt Shramovich. Comes with a lot of stuff, anti-rock sway bar, fuel cell with the bladder, fuel plumbing, big aluminum radiator and fan, full interior with newer gauges, heat wrapped exhaust, skins, aluminum roof, nice manual brakes, steering column and wheel, skid plates, and link mounts. I'm probably going to change the link mounts because I prefer a 3 link up front. I will be looking around for an ls1 or something similar. I'm going to build up a th350 fmvb, and buy an atlas 3.8. The chasis has a few dented tubes in the cage which I will rebuild with some 1.5 .120 chromoly and cut off the square frame and go full tube. The chasis was only $800 which is why this was an impulse buy.( I didn't plan on going full buggy, but ya know!) Full build to come when I get some parts together.

When it was together, that chassis treated Jason Head very well.

Good to know, thanks John.

why cut out the square frame? and why go to a 3 link front if it is set up for a 4 link? i don't think you will be able to build it low with a 3 link if the chassis is meant for a 4 link because the panhard will hit the frame, unless you plan on redoing the front rails?

X2 most of the time when I see a 3 link beneficial over a 4 link it is on the rear suspension. Not sure that sentence makes sense but having a 3 link in the rear I have watched the suspension load where you can understand that it is favorable over the way a 4 link loads. But my front 4 link performs much better then most 3 link front setups I watch.

EDIT: and if you want to sell it whole in a decent time frame I think you will have to take 2500, it will sit for quite a while at 3000. If you part it out you may get closer to 3k then 2500.

I would possibly be interested in the 300

I would do a 3 link because I already have the bracketry done on my front axle. I planned on redoing the frame get it to be as low as possible. But when I get it home this Sunday, I will consider a front 4 link. I think parting it out is the way to go now that I have a garage to do it at. Thanks for all the feedback.

jake why would you buy a chassis that has a square frame and 4 link front, only to rebuild major parts of the chassis and change the suspension design? i think it would be WAY easier to change the axle brackets then change the chassis

Well I just got it home today and was looking over it. The four link looks pretty good I will most likely use them especially since I know it worked out well for the guy who ran it for a few years.

What motor is going in the new chassis?

The motor is up in the air right now. I guess I'll be waiting for a deal to come along. I am not disassembling my jeep until October/November because I want to run the Rausch rock races. I should have the funds for a gen IV motor. I would like to an LS1 because its like 90lbs lighter than the LM7 or LQ4, but I'm not dead set on anything yet.

X2, it was pretty ahead of its time as far as chassis design goes. It is similar to some of the most competitive chassis in the pro mod class currently.

EDIT: oh yea, Jake, what motor was in the chassis previously?

Tbi 350, it has newer motor mounts. I have to research to see if gen III/IV mounts will line up.

I checked out the chassis at the garage yesterday. They used an Advance Adapters weld in motor mount kit. You should be able to just make new plates, or buy new motor mount arms.

I finally got around to looking at my jeep after the NJXOR race almost a month ago. The jeep was at Erik Millers place in Cumberland. Anyway I bottomed out pretty hard on one of the jumps at NJXOR and my harmonic balancer hit the front axle. This impact cracked the harmonic balancer the whole way though, broke a bomb proof motor mount in half and possibly bent my crank. Looks like I will begin work on the buggy immediately.

Ouch, expensive carnage sucks! Look forward to watching the chassis come together. Just get it together before Collin does and you'll be doing good :)

I bet I can get mine together before Colin!! I have the ability to wrench weekends.

So what would be left and useable now?

Frame, Cage, Trans and T-case?

Pretty much. I'm using almost everything else.

The motor is still good. I pulled the bolt out of the harmonic balancer last night and it fell right off. It broke around the hub of the balancer. Now I have to drill the hub that is around the end of the crank and crack it with a chizel. I am going to order a new harmonic balancer from HESCO as soon as I get the hub part off of the crank. I weld up my motor mount without too much hassle and should be driving by next weekend for Carlisle.

My jeep runs as of last night!

I just bought the motor for this buggy off of ebay.

01 5.3 vortec 85k rebuilt heads no harness or computer $300. Yea I'll have to get a harness and computer but it will still be a great deal.
