Rather than hi-jacking Shane's link thread, I decided to start my own track bar thread. I've never built anything with a track bar before, but I'm slowly putting a 3 link in the front of my jeep. The bar needs to have a bend (probably 20-25 or so degrees) in it to clear some stuff. I am planning on using 1.75 DOM, .25 wall. Should this be sufficient?

gayron uses 1 1/2" -.25 wall with tierod tube adapters and 3/4 heims that were 8 bucks each from ballistic and it holds up well.

I'm using 1.5 .120 wall Chromoly but DOM is plenty. Your trac bar does not take hits on rocks like the lower links do. No need to overkill save the weight and money get 1.5 .120 wall.

I've already got the 1.75 and I don't think I have any 1.5, so I'm saving money using the 1.75. As for the weight, I'm not super concerned about it. What I am concerned about is the bend in the trackbar.

Whats your concern, the loss in strength from the bend? Campbell chasis run track bars with multiple bends that are made out of 1.5" .120. If Shannon doesn't bend it, you're golden

That's exactly what I was worried about.

I wouldn't sweat it, you may be the owner of the worlds largest panhard bar though. Are you compromising any travel by going with the larger tube? Given the cost of 1.5" tube and the length you will be using. I would pick some tube up and not just use 1.75" "because you have it". Your rig is a lot nicer then "what I had laying around"

The other issue is that I don't have a die for 1.5 for my bender. No loss of travel from the diameter of the trackbar....the truss over the diff gets into the frame before the trackbar limits uptravel.

What bender do you have? I've got a ProTools 1.5" die and I'm right up the road from you in Severn.

I think its a JD2. I don't think parts on those two interchange, but I'm not sure. Maybe I'll come up your way and have you bend a piece up for me. I'll PM you about it later.
