Fire extinguishers are always good. They are only 1lb'ers but worth something!
Woodlee's rig caught on fire after the RCQ in the pits and it took more then 5 extinguishers to put it out completely. While the fire wasn't huge he was lucky to be in the pits surronded by race cars and trailers full of extinguishers or he could of lost a very expensive toy.
Jack, I was looking at them too. If you read down in the decsription it says thaey are class A, B, and C.
Extinguishes small type A fire (Ordinary combustibles)
Extinguishes small type B fire (Flammable liquids)
Extinguishes small type C fire (Electrical equipment)
and they are only good till 2011 (just keep that in mind)
I may pick up a pair myself.

throw on a set for me. :D We can split the shipping.
dammit i already ordered 2 (4 extinguishers total)
I might only have use for 1 set. I was thinking of keeping one in each vehicle and 1 in my kitchen.

only 1 lb? IMO that dosn't seem like enough to have on hand. Maybe 2 would be getting closer, but then you need 2x the space, plus time to grab the 2nd one.
That said, for only $10 I might get one just to have as an addition to the 2.5lb Halotron I keep on the rig.
hey...hey

hey, if it is the woot.com link, they changed it. todays special offer is a STARBUCKS at home machine. I doubt you want one of them on the trail.
they change it every day at 1am.

Just curious here...but aren't rig fire extinguishers ment to be an escape tool.
Rig begins to catch fire. Stop vehicle. Turn off engine. Unbuckle/unlatch. Get out. At any point if the flames get too close your extinguisher should be in reach while you are secured in your rig....reach and spray.
In that situation a 1 lb sounds like it would be ideal to keep in reach and mounted close to the driver. It would be enough to get you out and clear of the rig. But highly unlikely save any vehicle.
Being this small it is also easy enough to manipulate while in the 'hot' seat, and could be held/used with one hand. Not that a larger one is a bad thing, but it may be more difficult to safely secure a larger extinguisher within drivers reach.
Am I incorrect here?

Good thought process with keeping it within reach and protecting yourself while exiting the rig. I would also want to keep a larger extinguisher somewhere in the vehicle. Most fires start from fluids flashing on the exhaust and can be extinguished with a 2.5# extinguisher if you direct it properly. Most trail rigs are uninsured so lots of extinguishers is a good idea, hate to see someones rig get charred!
