Jeep stopped using the plug and play harness on the newer jeeps for electric brake controllers so I need to find a reputable place that can install a trailer brake controller up front running from my factory 7 pin harness. I have 2008 Jeep Commander if that matters. Closest place to Delaware / Maryland eastern shore would be ideal. I would do it myself but I hate soldering/doing wiring and would rather pay someone to do it cleanly and correctly the first time. Also if anyone can recommend a quality brake controller as well it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Most of the trucks that you buy now are pre wired under the dash .
I know that tekonsha has wire kits available for their controlers so all you have to do is install the brake controller under the dash and then plug the wire into the back then run the wire to the plug that is under the dash from the factory

Yeah, you might want to just check for a blue plug under the dash. The dodge guy said they stopped wiring the 1500 trucks as well......but what they really did was quit giving you the pigtail to wire to your brake controller. So before you get too involved, just take a glance.

JT and I wired his and it was cake. You really only need to run a few wires for power, ground, signal from the brake light switch, and signal to the plug.

No plug under dash on my Commander.

The Mopar harness ties into the fuse box under the hood per factory instructions.

Then you need to get it Starscanned by the dealer to get the signal back to the trailer. ($100ish)

I just purchased a "T" connector for the lights, and will run my own controller and wiring from the batt like on my pickups. I also picked up a 4 to 7 connector as this is part of me bypassing the dealer visit.

It's a ground, the hot to batt + with fuse, hot line from the box to the rear, and the wire to the pedal.

No worries, it's a easy task. I'm out maybe $250 total with the new Prodigy controller. Got my stuff at Etrailer.com

1st couple links are threads about the wiring, the last 3 is stuff I bought, I then got a spool of wiring local.
