I plan to wheel Saturday. I know WEROCK is happening, but I need (want) to get some seat time my rig and I plan to wheel more than watch the comp.
Who else is game?

I think I got it straightened out, I hope to get it back in the Jeep tonight. It's pretty embarassing, mostly carelessness. I remember the day we were working on it I was going back and forth between that and some other work. It's a good lesson for me in paying complete attention to what I am doing.
On the upside, I can now field strip a Dana 300 with my eyes closed.

Good times. Good times. I kinda like the other side of the park. I'll really like it with no speed limit and my own truck. :D
Small group, but we had a good time. We have some vid of the new loop X*? and Outer Limits.

Outer Limits is nice. You run the top section?
dan58
05-22-2010, 11:49 PM
I assume that's the section with the real nasty top part, then you make a hard left and back down the loop? Yes.
We also hit Devil's Den, then went over to check out Upper and Lower Talisman. We didn't have time to run them though.
frosty
05-22-2010, 11:52 PM
Probably. Once you get to the top of the trail there is the normal left out and back around to go down. But there is a rock section above that you can go up, then some left through a few trees then back down what can be an off camber down hill section. Fun stuff.
We ran Devil's Den and its not bad. They didnt have Lower and Upper Talisman cut when we were there. We walked parts of its and it has the potential to be nasty.

Didn't see the upper exit section (they don't have any ribbons on it????).
Upper Tal has a real nasty section about 2/3 of the way up. It looks like several attempts were made, but few actually put tires above that section.
Did you get to try out the F* hill climb (aka big effin ledge that you need big stick tires and a lot of wheelbase). It's split on two sides, and the nasty side is the right side. If you go to the left, there's that big dropoff ledge at the top.

No they dont have any ribbons. We ran it for what I think was the first time last time we were there.
We ran trail F but we didnt hit that huge drop off, went around it. Not sure where the hill climb is as we might have ran it backwards but we tried a bit of a hill climb and I didnt have enough fuel and stalled out. Had to run back fora gas can and I dont think anyone else ran it as we wanted to get on with the day.

The hillclimb on F is only about 25 yards away from the huge dropoff. It is split though. The left side puts you right in line to do the dropoff. The right side brings you out in front of the drop off. They have a ton of shit marked for cutting over there too. I think they have a lot of blue trail potential, but it needs to be "cut" with a big sprayer of roundup, rather than lopers and chainsaws.

Yeah we tried the right side of the hill climb and probably would have made it but that is where I ran out of fuel. Brandon and Stu ended up running out the left side to get my fuel can but went to the far left side of the drop off. Once back I backed down and ran the left as well. No way I'd run off of that drop off.

Alan and Shane both tried the right side. Gravity won.
I know Happy Bear can be talked into that drop off. It's a big summabitch that requires cajones of titanium.

Left side climb was easy. Stu + Brandon probably could have made the right side.
The drop off is big, but nothing happick or like equipped rigs couldn't easily make. I went down the far left and it wasn't bad.
The new property is nice and has a lot of potential. Somebody please convince the RC management to move the camping area over there.

Yeah I think they would have made it if not for my gas issue.
The drop wouldnt be bad in the right rig. But I know mine isnt that rig. I am just glad Brandon decided to stop and see exactly what was on the other side before we moved much further. It would have been a long, unexpected drop.

Found these pics of the upper section. We ran up where this guy is coming down. What we ran up and over to the left then down a little rocky section on the other side of the trees to the left.

Atlas. :flipoff2:
Technically, the issue of the week was a broken ATLAS cable shifter. :flipoff2:
It was a great day with good friends. Dan and I were doing the math, and neither of us had been out trail riding since Main Jambo last year. I can't remember the last time I was on the same trail as Shane.
It was fun checking out the new property. Being stuck in 4-low was not a huge detraction, it just took a little longer to get to Outer Limits.:o
Rippey's right, camping in the new property would be awesome.

From the pics you posted it looks like you just kept going straight up and didn't take the first left out?
Shane walked Gatekeeper, it was a nice line.
Winching up gatekeeper my synth line broke. It came shooting back at me like a steel cable. Never seen that before with synth, I've always just seen it drop. It didn't hit me but it ended up behind my truck on the driver side.

Yeah pretty much. We ran towards the right side of Outer Limits going up the main trail and just started to make the left out then decided to run what was up ahead of us. Looking up the main trail it was certainly harder looking to take the right line on up.

we were up today, the right side climb on F* is tough in the rain:doh:
tried some lines on upper and lower talisman and got denied due to the wetness and fresh trails/leaves:lol:
devils den is a decent trail too, lots of potential on the new property for sure:cool:
