View Full Version : Sleeper + trailer?

Seems that at least once a season one of ya'll tries to find a popup that fits on the trailer.

Stumbled across this on pirate, looks like a much better fit and it appears these things can be had pretty cheap.

I've seen that guys trailer before. Looks like a lot of work for not a lot of benefit. If you're going with a bumper pull trailer like that, why not just get a cap for your truck bed? You'd have more floorspace than that sleeper, just not as much headroom.

AHAHAHAHAHA

Yager. What a card.
So since that one, Mike has been through about 5 different sleeper projects. He sold that right after that. Not one of them finished I don't think, he gets about 75% done then gets a new idea and moves on.
That one really wasn't bad, there's a full build thread on NC4x4 on it. IIRc it was suprisingly spacious on the inside.

Numi, one major difference is that you don't lose your truck bed, you can still keep all your spares, tools etc in there.

He'd fit in well around here.

Bolt a job box on the front of your trailer and keep your spares and tools in that. Or build a platform and keep that stuff under that and sleep on top of it.

I'm not saying the sleeper is a bad idea, it just seems like a lot of work for not a lot of gain.

it would be money if he could fit a blue man and a fridge on there too...then it would be funny so it would take away from the fact its really stupid looking

a cassette toilet wouldn't be hard to stash in there. If you're willing to give up the walk around room I'd imaging a full shower wouldn't be out of the question either as its tall enough.

honestly i dont know why everyone doesnt do what i have...i bought the trailer from broncolou like 4-5 years ago?? and i love it...
its an 18' enclosed and lou finished the front with a sink, rv waterheater and heat, shower and toilet...it has a fold down double bed that i put the king size air mattress on...
the PPO (before lou) had a custom canvas back made (he was a boat guy) that snaps on and has a roll up screen window...ive (my wife) added some stuff to make it more Rvish and less enclosedish...
with a 55 gallon water barrel strapped down my jeep fits perfect with room in the back for firewood and stuff...with out the barrell i can fit my shortbed mj or lous disco

'Cause people like to build crazy stuff :)

I've seen a few trailer setups like that. They def work out nice. Camped next to a guy doing that in Gilbert, MN (Iron Range offroad park) a few years ago. it was pimp compared to my tent. Still trying to figure out how he managed to get a mog axled TJ in a shorter trailer though.

Me, next month I'm sending the M725 out here. Adding a pop top and a fold out bed from a travel trailer to it (and the rest of the crap needed to be an 'RV'). Its goal really isn't tow rig though. Its remote camping truck that can tow.

Curious as to what something like that weighs.

ive wondered that too but never weighed it...i pull it with a big block suburban and you can definately feel it back there fully loaded once you put jeep/water/firewood and all the wifes 'necessities'...but id still guess it weighs around 8k with the jeep in it

I agree this is the way to go - but compared to a cheap open trailer, it's pricy up front and heavier.
