Stole this from pirate, good info about fire extinguishers, and on one page a breakdown of a cheap fire extinguisher and a good one including fail points. A bunch of different mounts as well. Check it out i'm sure everyone will re-evaluate what they run for safety.

Where can a good FI be purchased locally?
FYI, Timmay at LII is now making the sweet quick release FE mounts.

on page 2 of that thread on pirate there is a guy making something similar for $17 not welded, and it only takes 3-4 welds to assemble. I e-mailed him about ordering 2 that i need to weld together.

I figured that after shipping and such, I'd just get ones from Timmay already assembled and in my hand. It's more of a time thing than anything else at this point.

Not sure, but here in Columbia there's a Simplex-Grinnell at the intersection of Snowden River Parkway and Minstrel Way, and in College Park there is a place on the northbound side of route 1 just south of Powder Mill.

Walmart had more of a selection than HD and Lowe's.
I like these FI holders better if you have the room.

I bought a quick-release holder from DrillSpot (link (http://www.drillspot.com/products/65281/Kidde_VB-5_Heavy_Duty_Fire_Extinguisher_Bracket)) that only needs a quick flick of the thumb to release, none of this two-handed hold with one pull with the other crap. Mounted under the rear seat but after reading that thread I will redo everything

We need a group buy.
i could be in for 2 for my new jeep. Really interested in the price though, i know a good fire extinguisher will pay for itself in 1 use, but

Seems to be a decent price if you buy them by the case and have them shipped to a business. Home shipping for a case is almost as much as the extinguishers themselves.

I can check with the place on powder mill. How many people are interested in a group buy?
