It was a good day and the weather was perfect. Good to see frostys on the trail again. Wish we could have covered more ground but breakage happens and sometimes it takes several hours to fix.

Everything seemed to perform great on Frosty's TJ and the work looked to be top-notch. Well done on the complete rebuild!

Thanks a million for the handy dandy trail fix to you, Rippy, "E", Happy Bear, Jack, Frosty and anyone else I may have missed. That tie rod bend was perfect! Recentered my steering wheel and believe it or not, the danged thing ran down the highway on the way home at +65 mph "hands free"as straight as an arrow flies. The axle shaft and brake job performed equally well. Added a bit more diff lube and ran the 183 miles home w/o issue.
Like Rippy said, the XJ owes me nothing but I guess it's time for upgrades.

How did Frosty's truck do?
Very well, he didn't push it too hard, but I didn't see any issues.

I had a good time yesterday and it was good to be back out on the trail. Great seeing everyone that was up there.

How did Frosty's truck do?

Pretty good but I took it easy. I didnt want to break anything. Couple things I need to fix or change but nothing broke that I know of.

Here is our scorecard from the club comp

I know we took some cones on purposes but I didn't relaize I had taken that many, but then again it was a long day and alot of courses.

Looks like you took 4 total.

I'm trying to go back through the day...On the 2nd 3rd and 5th course we took a cone as part of our strategy on each course.

On course 4 we backed in, pulled down through gate 2, drove through gate 3, and then gate 4 you got hung up on the rear diff and I think we ended up taking a cone there accidentally. One cone on accident is not bad for 5 courses!

You did better then Alan and I who both made a rookie mistake and clipped an exit cone being careless/rushed leaving a course.

Wow, the score card really helps you understand the points system and the team's strengths and weaknesses. I led the team... in backs. Spools front and rear rule for strength and simplicity, but bring the suck on the comp course. Even with that said, I truly believe with the experience we gained, if we as team went out tomorrow and ran five new courses, we would cut our scores in half.

Thanks, I had forgotten about the first gate on the second course. On the 5th course I know we talked about taking the cone and also about trying to make it clean but at that point I was just driving and listening the spotter.

I'm with you! That's why I say we get an even better practice day going next year and maybe we can step our game up again next year and place in the top 3. We definitely had the right recipe for a winning team, 20 points were from blatantly avoidable errors leaving the courses...

I'm not sure how I ended up with less backs then you Rippy, slightly narrower/better turning radius, pushing the rear digs hard to avoid backs, making as much use as possible of back ups, and some experience with navigating comp courses I guess?

So is Ethan's truck getting turned into a class 2 rig and yours for trail riding, or the other way around? :stir:

Rippey got a lot more backs than me because he went first. We did a good job at learning from our mistakes as we went. A practice day with all the team members prior to the comp would have made a big difference. We'll see how it goes next year.

Looks like I picked the right bonus to attempt in the shoot-out, ended up with the best score! If my transfercase shifter hadn't broken I would of had a few less points to.

That was a great shootout run, it's too bad there was not much chance of the shootout making a difference.
You got almost no credit for your accomplishments throughout the comp, because everyone expected you to do well. :flipoff2:
