Chevy 2500 HD locker is locked

I have a 2001 Chevy 2500 HD with a locking rear end and the locker is locked up like a spool. I looked inside and no metal chuncks or anything. Dose anyone know anything about this , Can it be fixed or do I need a new locker ? Thanks AL

we had two of our work truck where the locker broke. both were 2005. i think chevy has a problem with the lockers. but we had metal pieces in the diff. when we got the trucks fixed we went to an open carrier instead of the locker.
