The 2nd annual Virginia Tech Memorial Trail Ride is scheduled to run on August 22nd and 23rd 2009 in conjunction with the Summer Slam event. We hope for an even larger turnout than last year as John Hunt and Big Dogs Offroad host us again at the Cove campground in Gore, VA. Along with the exciting events of last year like the raffle, bonfire, and truck flop among others, we have new events in the works to make this year’s a blast too! So keep an eye out for VTMTR info, and we hope you will join John and Sinking Creek 4 Wheel Drive Association for this year’s event.

The Sinking Creek 4 Wheel Drive Association would like to thank everyone that helped to make the first inaugural Virginia Tech Memorial Trail Ride (VTMTR) an immense success. We were able to raise and donate $1500 to the student volunteer run Virginia Tech Rescue Squad. These student volunteers were the first responders to the April 16, 2007 shooting on the Virginia Tech Campus which killed 32 of our peers. We would like to thank Low-Range Magazine, Arcet Welding Supply, Advance Adapters, Front Range Off-road Fab, High Angle Driveline, Sniper Fabworks, KORE 4x4 Customs, Johnson Conrols, 4x4 Connection, Back Country Driving School, and FOA Shocks for their contributions to the event and parts raffle. Most importantly we would like to thank our good friend John Hunt; without John and Big Dogs Offroad none of this would have been possible. We had an impressive first year turnout of 72 rigs and it was a pleasure to meet all of you.

On Novemeber 9th John came down to the VT campus in Blacksburg, VA to present the VTRS with the money raised from the VTMTR. That morning we took John out onto our local trail where he rode shotgun with the club president. In the afternoon the VTRS gave us a tour of their station and posed for pictures with us.
