They set up a course that was about 10 miles and we ran 4 laps.
140 trucks signed up to race.
It was a pretty brutal day for the crawlers.
I wound up with 5th in the 4cyl class and 43rd overal.

Can you explain more? I think I'd like to do this one in the future. How many people actually finished?
Would have entered this time but didn't find out in time... hopefully in Spring...

Yep. Ran the zook. I'd say less than half actually finished. I wasn't really racing hard. Just wanted to run around and turn decent times. I pitted just to look things over and see how much gas I burned. I stopped to get a little 2wd buggy unstuck and another one started. I also stopped to help AJ out and give him some fix a flat.
AJ smashed a tree on the first lap and turned the donk 180 degrees on the trail.....and rolled it upside down. It broke the rear steer clean off the truck. He used a hi-lift to make a lock out of sorts and drove it off the trail.
I lost a bump stop and my muffler.
The terrain was more rocky than last time but nothing really worthy of crawling. If you can run green trails at rausch all day you would be fine. I did have a little 2wd buggy run up on me in a tight spot on the last lap. I didn't drive around this big boulder in the trail and he wound up hung up on it......I didn't see him again.

wow, sounds like a blast.
I'm DEF going to have to get a truck/trailer so I can try this out.
I assume thsi was all one long shot, not repetitive loops, so there really was no specific place for a pit stop?

Great job Stu. It was 4,8+ mile laps. Yes a redundant loop. Yes a redundant loop. Yes a redundant loop. Yes a redundant loop.:flipoff2:

Thanks man. Sorry about your truck. Also thanks for letting us stash our gas can at your pit.
It wasn't redundant for a lot of people.......
I spent an hour at the pressure washer and the buggy is still dirty.

While I've never been to a Line Mt race I think this video probably does a pretty good job of capturing what the event is like:

The video makes it look too easy.
By the end of the race.....there are like 90 broken down trucks littering the trail.
It also feels rougher than that.
I don't understand how a bunch of relatively well built trucks can get beat out by rigs that look like mad-max road warrior rejects.

Come on the Timber Donkey is not that bad.

Bad luck. Last time 7 out of 8 of the crawler/racers that showed up finished. Keep in mind that only like 50 trucks even finished in the time limit. Only like 10 more were even close.

These races have been going on for over 30 years with the same people running it. These hillbillies know what it takes to win the race.
I gaurantee you that the guys consistently finishing the race know their shit and their trucks are properly race prepped and well tuned before the events. The key to finishing any of these races is preperation and driving within the limits of the vehicle.
75% of people not finishing endurance races are taking out by something that should of been taken care of/tightened during race prep.

I remember a lot of crap talk about coming up here and kicking some hillbilly ass on the old board.
Just remember we have nothing better to do up here and our property taxes are 10 percent of yours.

These guys can drive.... I CANNOT:thumbsup: It is very easy to overdrive in the tight woods. I was happy to finish 2 outta 3 this year. My failure was actually hard parts failure not overdriving which i learned pretty good in the first 2 races. I will be going there for quite some time in future.......

Lou you are modest. I'll be there with you next year. Being a local yocal I'm hoping to score some pre running with my coal cracker connections in the off season.:D I'll let you know if I'm allowed to bring a date.
