Kinda a dumb question... But My brothers TJ has Disc brakes in the rear.. The brake pads have a thin metal spacer/clip that is on the outside of each pad (not sure what its called) but the they are no longer attached to the pads and shifted forward onto the Rotor (hub part)..
His Pads are still have LOTS of life left, does he need these spacer things?? I'm not sure what they do...
From what I can tell they are "Shims" to dampen noise..
