i ordered this for the buggy

http://www.diy4x.com/images/brakes/rockwellpinionbrake2.jpg

i talked to kert and he said to use passenger side 3/4 ton calipers from a 4x4 73 - 87 truck. had them looked up so i can get them and there is like 3-5 different types for those years and most rate from 5400lb to 8400lb braking, tandom hydrolic boost ect.

Im going to run a 1 ton master cyl from my chevy, what would you suggest? basicly the rear is going to be the pedal brake and the front is going to be seperate i think for front only brakes when doing digs

I've got a CNC manual master cylinder collecting dust in my garage. I think it is a 3/4" bore.

Wait you're not going to have both axles braked with the pedal? That's dumb. Do it right and plumb in a cutting brake like every other wheeler out there :flipoff2:

FWD and lock up the rear pinion brake...

then you'd just be dragging the rear..don't see much of an advantage to that.

Ideally you would have the ability to lock up the individual wheels in the rear, but you can lock both rear wheels and with the front wheels hard one way or the other you can drag it sideways.

Pretty sure Happick doesnt have the ability to lock individual wheels and he does fine.

Correct, he cannot, but it is hurting his performance and he hopes to change it soon.

front digs aren't really needed when you have rear steer

And the only reason it's really hurting him is because he's competing....if he were just wheeling, it would be just fine.

actually unless your powering the outside tire in the rear with an open differential, locking up both rear tires works better than just locking up one in comps. it makes the rear drag more and lets the front end do more work turning vs just having one side drag and it pulls the truck forward more. Unless you have an ARB or Zip locker in the rear dont worry about it and just lock up the rear all together.
